This past Spring Peter Chang, an award-winning and one-time Chinese Embassy chef, opened a flagship restaurant named Q in Bethesda. Located at 4500 East-West Highway, Q offers some longtime Chang favorites with more than half of the menu coming from new and spicier recipes. Chang has been a staple in the Maryland and Virginia area, but his new restaurant in Bethesda is the first of its kind. Q, which stands for qijian, literally translates from Mandarin to “home” or “flagship”. Chang has intentions of making Bethesda and this new upscale restaurant offering his home base. His daughter, Lydia Chang, joked with Bethesda Magazine, that her father wouldn’t be going anywhere else anytime soon.
